Being an American, born in England, of South African parents, I’ve had to find my place in the world, independent of geography, and well rooted in the universal, natural world. My path led me to contemplative traditions, body therapies, yoga, and dance- a psychology masters degree at Naropa University, intensive studies and internship in crisis work and contemplative psychotherapy.

With more than 14 years of experience working with families, individuals, and children, on two continents, you can feel comfortable trusting your work with me. As a child of divorce, and a divorcee, and now a grandparent with an intact little family struggling along, I’m able to see the points where we bend, and where we don’t.

After living for several years overseas, and ten years before that in Boulder, Colorado, Loanda now returns to Novato, where she originally had started her work with parents and families.

She says:

“In more than thirteen years experience in England and Colorado, doing counseling and psychotherapy within mental health centers, private charity organisations, and in private practice for most of that time as well, clients reported excellent results.

I have special expertise in behavior management, child development and working with parents, and enjoy the challenges of being part of a multi-disciplinary treatment team, as well as working independently. Training groups small and large has been a privilege, and making training an exciting and personal experience seems to have paid off with excellent feedback from participants.

With an integrative approach, psychodynamic and cognitive/behavioural learning, expressive techniques, and contemplative processes combine for sustainable results in a short period of time.

Now working as a personal and family coach from my new office in Novato, California, I hope to create a haven where authentic self-expression and creativity are nurtured, in tune with deepest yearnings for intimacy and connection. Give me a call!”
